IN-EI is an origami lamp created as part of a collaboration between Japanese born fashion Designer Issey Miyake and Australia’s own Artemide design studio.
Miyake had been experimenting with the mathematical folding of cloth to create garments in the past, and so this is simply another medium in which he has now been able to express his interest in the field of origami as a technique for design.
The reason i appreciate this design so much is because of the fact that the idea has come from a different medium. Miyake is a fashion designer by trade, yet he is still able to apply his technique and creativity in the form of a lighting fixture. With inspiration gathered from oriental folding techniques, he has incorporated his passion for fashion design and his culture into something that may be a foreign field to him
