Design rationale: The Beijing national stadium was designed and built for the 2008 summer Olympics. The unique exterior structural patterns are inspired by Chinese ‘crazed pottery’ and is a prominent reason why it is widely known as “The Birds Nest”. Its unusual forms and curves represent the future and society of China with the underlying principle of hard work.
